TEST DRIVE MEME FEB 2012
Test Drive Meme
[App Form] [Reserves Page]
This meme is here to let prospective characters mingle ICly with the characters already in the game and each other. It helps us introduce various scenarios that you're likely to encounter in Soul Campaign and the different places used in the game. Hopefully, this helps you figure out if the game is really suited to your needs or not -- otherwise, just have fun!
The scenarios for this cycle are:
1. Shibusen has run out of free residential units! You are now stuck in one of their dorms with three other people. There's no privacy at all!
2. You find yourself trapped in the Holocaust mall during a blizzard. It's not as nice as you might think when there's a kishin egg or two prowling about.
3. There's a disease spreading that gives any meister or weapon who doesn't have a partner boils on their faces. You have exactly three hours before it reaches you -- time to make use of partner activities to get one. Please indicate if you're a meister or a weapon on your subject header.
4. It's mission time! You're suddenly thrown into a mission with a stranger (or several strangers). Do you flee or fight? (Current mission board is here.)
5. Your character was brought into Shibusen with a big problem. It seems that the BREW thought it would be funny if guys were girls and girls were guys. You have to race up the Shibusen steps to get the antidote, but you have to drink it with one or more people. Apparently, BREW likes company?
Just choose any one randomly, or make up your own, we don't mind! To make things simpler, please follow this subject line:
[CHARACTER NAME | CANON or FANDOM CHARACTER IS FROM | MEISTER OR WEAPON | SCENARIO# (or indicate if it's a new scenario)]
For example: [SPIRIT ALBARN | SOUL EATER | WEAPON | #1]

As an extra note, you may add your TD threads to your application although it is not a requirement to do so and will not count towards activity checks. Please place it under the Notes section if you do.
I DID AND I STILL sort of... am...... sob Legend. ;;
Visibly squirming from both the pain and his attempts to crawl back out Kotetsu eventually managed to plop himself seated down on the floor, clutching his head in his hands yet trying his best to open his tightly shut eyes to look over toward whoever had just come into the room that was most definitely not Bunny.]
Hah? I-I'm not... rabbits? What?
*flails around* This is as unexpected for you as it is for me XD
He carried his weight well enough as he tracked the source into a connecting room and stood at its boundary, staring at a slightly familiar face. Hmm, that hair style he suspected, but he couldn't place it. Was this man an idiot?]
Weren't you just accusing 'bunny' of taking something from you, boy? What are you doing down there anyway? Shouldn't a grown man be on his feet striking an impressive pose?
let us just bask in our feelings (and flailings) then. together. ;A;
He didn't want to look. He couldn't look. There was no possible way he'd be able to look because if he looked up and it really was Legend speaking to him then he didn't know what he was going to do.
And yet, when the pounding in his head slowly faded away and his hands lowered, Kotetsu looked up. He said nothing, he did nothing. He just looked.]

It appears sitting on the floor is a hobby of yours, hmm? Well then, I'm Mr. Petrov, and I appear to be your new roommate.
[Slowly, he extended a great hand towards the brunette on the floor in hopes of getting him up there standing again. He couldn't do all that much with his recovering burns, but they had mostly disappeared except the one on his bandaged wrist.]
Come now, up off the floor.
no subject
--Legend! No, L-Legend! You're Legend! Not Pe-- P-Petrov? [Where had he heard that name before? His thoughts were in too much of a scattered panic to make the connection to Yuri right now but eventually he gave up on trying to put the two very obvious pieces together and instead of taking the hand he just scooted away further on the ground.]
No no no! No new roommate, no nothing! You're... I'm not touching that hand, you're a ghost! You have to be! You're not even alive! Why am I seeing Legend's ghost?! What'd I even do?!
no subject
Mr. Legend was my superhero name, but I'm retired now.
[He supposed that he was a ghost. He had died in those flames before arriving here, but hadn't Yuri mentioned about different timelines? It didn't much make sense to him.]
I was dead, but when I arrived here, I was barely alive. I've recovered, son, so calm down before you hurt yourself.
HERO SANDWICH sorryIcouldntresistiloveyousomuch
However, he was sure to come back to chaos when he returned. After all, there was always chaos. Whether it be complaining or their little apartment on fire or something, he had been braced for something like that--
But the new addition to the apartment was startling enough for words. When did a newcomer arrive? And... who were they, even? From behind, Barnaby couldn't identify the person, but with Kotetsu on the floor and looking rather startled, Barnaby mistook the guest for an intruder. He braces himself mentally for the possibility of a fight breaking loose.]
...Can we help you?
this is the worst hgklfdsj
Kotetsu tries his best to squirm to the side enough to meet eyes with his partner as well as get out of Legend's way because he really can't stand to be in front of him much longer like this, at the same while giving Barnaby a very pleading face that just screams HELP ME OUT HERE ;A;]
BUNNYYYYY! Gh-gh-ghost! It's a ghost! He's a ghost! Don't let him possess you!!
I'm laughing
He turned his head to regard the other man, appraising Barnaby with a single glance before turning to the side so that he technically had an arm for each if they decided to attack him.]
I've been told that I'm to stay here because of a housing storage. I'm not quite certain what's wrong with your friend here, but he's making quite a sight.
graeiog;zsgh WHY YOU LAUGH AT OUR PAAIIINNN
However, as the older man turned around, Barnaby's own eyes widened. From the physique, the beard, the hairstyle, that voice...
Now he could see why Kotetsu was so weirded out. However, he already had a bit of a clue as to what was going on--sort of, it had to be the BREW--so it wasn't as alarming.]
...He's not a ghost. Get up.
[And with that, he took a step closer.]
You're... Mr. Legend, aren't you? [He had to be. There was no mistaking it. Barnaby took an entire class on this man at the Academy.]
horrible ;A;
[Kotetsu pointed a finger between the two and watched them proceed to go on with this whole thing as if nothing was wrong, which caused his shock and alarm to quickly deflate. Why weren't either of them as riled up about this as he was? It was warranted right? Legend was in their little dorm, alive and walking and talking and none of that was supposed to be possible!
However, he wasn't going to just spend all this time being the only one huddled up on the floor like some scared little animal-- which he most certainly wasn't, this is just a lot for a guy to take in at once, so as his pointed finger drooped in defeat Kotetsu slowly began to stand, crossing his arms over his chest and sulking in a rather pathetic manner. It was very obvious though that he was still uncomfortable about this whole thing, what with the fact that he not only didn't move away from his standing spot just yet but he kept making hesitant glances in Legend's direction.]
If he's not a ghost then what is he?
no subject
Of course, he found it odd that both men immediately recognized him. Hadn't Yuri mentioned how everyone was from different worlds? He supposed that being roomed with two men from Sternbild made things a little easier on him considering he wasn't entirely certain about this whole 'another world' bit.]
Mr. Legend was my superhero name, but as I told your friend, I'm retired now. [He slowly extended a half-bandaged hand to Barnaby to shake like a polite gentleman.] It's just Mr. Petrov now, especially here and now.
no subject
He reached one of his own hands out to give a firm but careful shake, eyes noting the bandages.]
Petrov? [Like the Judge? Were they related?] It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Petrov. I'm Barnaby Brooks, Jr. and this is my partner, Wild Tiger. I think he's rather spooked because, well... From where we're from, you're no longer living. ...Honestly, I'm a little concerned as well [or rather, he was alarmed as hell but he's always been better at containing it], but I think it's just this city's odd machinery that brought us here. Apparently it's capable of bringing individuals from different points of time in addition to different worlds.
[He glanced over at Kotetsu, frowning.] It's the BREW. It's a lot more complicated than we first thought; when I spoke to the judge a few days ago, we discovered something else. I guess... that's how Mr. Leg--Mr. Petrov arrived here as well.
1/2
Don't go frowning at me! How was I supposed to know that BREW thing could do stuff like this? No one even told me! And what's even the point of that anyway? It's bad enough that they just take people but they bring people back from the dead and then bring them here?! You can't just do that! It isn't fair!
[It was obvious by the way his earlier hesitant and distressed reaction was turning into nothing but anger that this whole thing was seriously starting to upset Kotetsu immensely. On the one hand this could all be seen as a second chance, but on the other, at some point Legend-- Petrov, whatever, would have to return back to Sternbild. Dead. How could anyone deal with that sort of fate looming over them for as long as they stayed here? To know that at any moment you could just no longer exist.
All Kotetsu could see in his head was Tomoe in that hospital bed, smiling and waiting for a day that would eventually have to come whether she'd expect it or not. You couldn't do that to anyone else. You couldn't do this to Legend-- Petrov..... Petrov....... judge.....]

Judge?!

Nodding his head at the introductions, he paused at the name 'Wild Tiger'. Where had he heard that before? He didn't quite remember where, and he was silently ashamed to think that it was probably because he hadn't been sober enough. Names and faces tended to blur after all.]
I don't quite understand it myself, but before I arrived here, I was dead. [He had never been a man to be dishonest.] Son, life isn't fair, but we live with what we have and appreciate it for all it's worth. Some of us need the second chance anyway.
[His eyebrows drew together in confusion at the mention of judge from them both. He hoped this wasn't a case of mistaken identity.] Judge?
no subject
It was odd, knowing an old hero's real name besides just the title that had been given to him. As one without a title, just that infuriating nickname, Barnaby was slowly starting to see where those old fashioned thoughts of Kotetsu's came into play. But the titles were just that. He wouldn't have too much difficulty adjusting to the man's proper name. And as the old ex-hero spoke on second chances and moving on, it just sparked the curiosity that led to his death to begin with. No one really knew; the records on it were missing, from Barnaby's research. From what it sounded... it seemed good to have the past put very far behind him.] Second chances are always a good thing, even if it's here.
[So the BREW could also bring people back from death... Barnaby's mind was slowly turning around this bit of information when he caught that last outburst from Kotetsu. Judge. Right.]
Mr. Petrov, do you by chance happen to know a man named Yuri Petrov? He's a judge and works for HeroTV presiding over some of the cases involving heroes.
[They... do look similar...]
no subject
Those words, they'd done something. Given him some type of reaction. It was like a weird sort of shock. Nothing much really, just a slight jolt of emotion. An odd clench of his heart. Something he hadn't felt in a while, but it was a familiar reaction. This had happened before. Many times.
...it was the reaction of listening to your (former) idol say something so impressive, so heartfelt and genuine and true to everything you ever believed in, so cool, that he could just completely forget about everything he'd been upset and confused about just seconds ago. Some things you just don't grow out of, and this feeling he had was a genuine fanboy moment. Kotetsu ran a hand through his hair, ruffled it about a little, rubbed his face and finally stepped away from the spot he'd been stuck in since Legend arrived, awkwardly passing by the two quickly and mumbling distractedly.]
I... need to... water... be back.
no subject
It was also obvious that both men knew each other quite well. They had possibly worked around one another before coming here? He suspected that if they knew who Yuri was, they had close dealings with HeroTV and possibly the Justice Bureau.
At the mention of Yuri, he smiled in the way only a proud father could, making certain the other was still in ear-shot as he said,] Yes, Yuri is my son. It's nice to know that people know of his accomplishments. You know my Yuri well?
[Some of which he was only just finding out himself.]
no subject
There were definitely things happening behind the scenes that were not taught in that class...
But as the conversation drifted towards Yuri, Barnaby found himself surprised at the man's smile. His son? That... that was definitely new.]
You're his father?
[Well, he didn't speak of his personal life at all. They weren't that close, but... it was odd. He could definitely see a resemblance; it was faint, but it was there.] We're not too close, unfortunately, but I've gotten to speak to him a lot more since we're here. But that is surprising. I wouldn't have guessed.

Is your friend going to be alright?
[Well, he figured that this man knew more about the goings on in Yuri's life than he currently did. It was tedious remembering a son at half the age of the one that appeared before him.]
I doubt anyone knows that I had a family at all. I had to protect them after all. [He happened to do a poor job at the end of his life.] He's much older than I remember, but he seems to be a fine listener.
no subject
[He just grew on Barnaby, like a fungus he couldn't get rid of. But whatever, this was a nicer thing, getting to speak to an older, admirable hero was always a nice thing.]
Families are a well-kept secret, it seems like. [After all, Kotetsu kept his a secret as well. It must have just been a heroes thing to do... Old-fashioned, but understandable. He nodded with a smile.] He is. Quite respectable and he keeps himself informed on the comings and goings. I've only gotten to speak to him more often here, but he wasted no time in getting prepared in this world. A lot better than my partner and I, that's for sure. Is he your only son? Or did you have other children?
no subject
He'd been talking to Legend's son this whole time and he didn't know oh god okay yeah he can't handle this yet. Forcing a smile, Kotetsu weakly pointed over to their tiny couch in their tiny living room.]
You two keep going, I'm just gonna sit over there for a while! --ah, not that you need to keep standing, that's pretty rude of me to say! Wow, sorry about that! You should really sit! B-both of you!
[Without waiting a single moment Kotetsu actually walked over to Barnaby and attempted to drag him over to the couch.]
no subject
Of course, the brunette still looked to be on the verge of some kind of mental break-down. He wasn't in the condition to be doing much more than sitting on mentally deranged people, but he was hefty enough to pull it off if necessary.
He watched as the two went to the couch, perfectly willing to stay standing. He had been laying around for the last while anyway, and it wasn't good on his back at his age to be laying down for long periods of time.]
Yes, Yuri is my only child. I personally only had time for one child, but Yuri was always a blessing to our family. What do you two do for a living in Sternbild?
