LETS HAVE OURSELVES A QUESTION MEME YOU GUYS! We've got a lot of new faces and it's a fun way to get to know each other! You don't even have to have CR to ask questions so everyone should pounce on one another. :>

Basically this is what you do!

1. Ask someone a question. It can be about character feelings, headcanon, thoughts on character quirks, first impressions, the player's favorite cheese, SERIOUSLY ANYTHING. Though RP related is prob preferred, I say go wild. QUESTIONS ARE QUESTIONS!

Though since you asked me, turning the table:

What are Aranea's first impressions of Kid? And have they changed any? (they've only threaded twice so far so I doubt it but might as well xD)

Kid is complicated because there are two parts of him that Aranea feels that she needs to be aware of and address. On one hand there is Kid the person and on the other hand there is Kid the Shinigami. Let's start off with Kid the Shinigami, since that constitutes the part she feels she needs to address first.

Kid the Shinigami is the first part she met in Death City. For her, he's quiet and professional, holding a certain air of tired detachment. She feels that this is in part due to a situation in which he does not want to be a part of. She sees that as much as he acknowledges and wishes for the guest's help, that he also feels remorsefully responsible for their misgivings. This is like watching President Hoover try to address that the problems of the Stock Market crashing while also trying to reassure that things will get better if we all work together and handle the challenges that are presented. It's an impossible task for one person and of what she has seen he is handling this as professionally as he can, and with great consideration for the guests who it seems to her he regards as collateral damage to the whimsy of BREW. This is also the part that has put his very soul on the line (to her surprise) to make sure the madness element is kept out. She wants to see it first hand to see what they are dealing with, but that sort of protective care can be respected. She is also worried (given the... uh... debacle of her first day and the... interesting soul perception experience...) that Kid is stretching himself too thin and his work is starting to show signs of tearing at the seams as he addresses all the problems simultaneously. He's certainly in a position that she would respect, and is handling an impossible task as well as one man can be expected to handle it.

...Haaa and I just made an open log post that actually delves a little into his introspection about some of those XD (and I had to cut it down because it was so long in the original draft sobbing /tl;dr's too much).

But yeah, Aranea would be hitting a lot of marks about him sob. Well at least she doesn't think of him as a crazy freak 8Da;

Kid the kid, meanwhile, is a bit like the mask behind the mask, as far as Aranea is concerned. And she got a biiiig dose of him immediately after meeting him face to face (this is why you should really get to know your political officials, people!) Aranea saw that he is incredibly symmetrical-minded, socially awkward, and in some respects eager to please the people under his care. To break it down even further, the care for others is noble and worthy of respect, but his need for symmetry and how badly he broke down just by looking at Aranea is a red flag. In the absence of an actual explanation, Aranea reads this need as a desire to organize and order the world -- a sort of "this is how the world should work and I will make it so that it is," and seeing how easy it was for somebody like her -- who just looked out of place to this perfect conceptualization -- is alarming. Or at least it would have been, were it not for the fact that he seems to genuinely recognize this shortcoming and is working to improve it. In Aranea's mind, this suggests that he may have a tendency to act on impulse against things he doesn't like which so far has included asymmetry and, judging by what she heard of the witches, chaos. Being the kind-hearted person that she is, Aranea was willing to work with him to improve his disposition towards her, but also recognizes that not everybody would do that. She worries in this case that the war may have an element of "this is how things always have been" pattern, with Kid having difficulty getting out of it despite knowing there is a better way to do things. The most prickly part, though, is that Kid knows more than he is letting on and there may be some dark feelings that are clouding his judgements in this battle against the witches that he knows about but is unwilling to express.

tl;dr: that shit's gotta stop, yo.

Still, she does believe that he's new to being a shinigami, and that leaping to that conclusion too early without seeing the full scale of the war itself would be unwise.

As a person, Aranea sees a bundle of insecurities and pathologies, but also a genuinely invested person that, like the shinigami section, is in a really bad spot and is perhaps ill-equipped to deal with the challenges. She actually likes Kid as a person for his willingness to do the right thing, to have other people's needs in mind, and is slowly adapting to the situation around him. However, though she was too polite to say anything, she did not approve of the little tantrum and somewhat believes that he has fallen into a normal pattern with them that is unhealthy. How she responded is pretty much how she will continue to respond to them were he to do it again: take a time out to allow him to get his neurotic feelings out, but when it comes to trying to drag her into it she will refuse and change the subject. Kid's a big boy, and in a big boy job, he needs to know better to stop acting that way and Aranea's not going to make any apologies for not letting him act like... a kid.

And yet a lot of Kid is also a mystery, and she genuinely wants to understand and believes that he has a rational (if somewhat magical) explanation for doing things the way he does. She's also open to the possibility that he is more stable than she thinks he is at the moment, and is going to be watching and talking with him very carefully to see more of what he knows and to observe his character.

Yeeep lots of hits again. The only catch though is that rather it completely stopping, it's going to be more of a matter of "balancing" things out and "controlling" what he is—which is the embodiment of Order. Two years ago, a.k.a. canon timeline start, his views were very narrow when it came to symmetry and balance. But now it's starting to expand and he's starting to recalibrate and work that in with his way of thinking.

...Still old habits are hard to kill, but if he didn't recognize the fallacy of his behavior before, he's really starting to now. Like literally. His weapons weren't happy with him either when he kind of. Flew into that rage at Black☆Star which resulted in the school being damaged further (I think if that hadn't happened and things went the way he wanted, he really wouldn't have seen it as well), so he's definitely getting a good dose of "DUDE CHILL IT WITH THE SYMMETRY RAGE." Though he probably inherited that "furious rage" from his father (old man Shinigami wasn't always Mr. Doofus at least). Still, no excuse to fly off the handle so he has to learn to temper that, too. Let's hope he never actually gets drugged up on Madness and turns into insane!Kid?

But he's not so bad, Aranea! He's working on it! Slowly...but surely...!

The thing is, Aranea has had experience with her own conflict and though she would never admit to be successful at it, she did grow from the experience. And she's seen LOTS of other conflicts to know how things play out. This goes double with temporal-dimensional deities that are able to effect and shape time and the universe.

It's also my headcanon that she either lead the group at one point or at the very least was a very influential in how things went. So she's not afraid to speak up. xD

I do think Kid could learn a lot from her and from anyone else, really. So it would definitely be interesting to see how things might affect his development!
