Useless facts and responses meme

15 USELESS FACTS AND RESPONSES MEME

This is simple. This is just like the 15 facts meme except with something new added to it!

- List 15 facts of your character, canon and/or headcanon and/or in game
- Other characters ICly respond to it - eg. if your character hates frogs, your character can either sympathise with them or be a nasty troll and put one down their back.

This was totally stolen from last time we had this meme.

It's well suited to one who dislikes violence.

[if by "violence" you mean "getting hit back."]

Oh yes, that was an exemplary example of that.

Is that a hint of sarcasm I detect? [a hurt, kicked-puppy look that might've been more convincing if it weren't for the pointy shark teeth and overall skeletal appearance.]

I do what I must to defend myself, you must understand that.
consider8: (I told you this would happen)

[personal profile] consider8 2012-08-20 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shark teeth would also be more menacing if it wasn't for the fact that all trolls have them :E]

You can bathe it in whatever light you wish and you still would not obscure the truth from me: you were enjoying yourself.

[oh fine, you can take his teeth, but ye can never take his freedom-- er, style!]

What I was enjoying, dear child, was the chance to stretch my limbs after some millennia of inactivity. [he lays his good hand over his heart, as if pained.] But believe me, every strike and slash hurt me just as much as it did him-- probably more.

[no, he was fooling them when they all believed he was some old, frail, charitable soul with his head in his books. but he's quite beyond that now!]

Your sanctimony is showing. [drawling, whilst inspecting sharp fingernails...]

Including morality.
dissenter: (✿ au-delà du ciel)

[personal profile] dissenter 2012-08-21 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[lifting his chin, almost haughtily.]

So, sound and fury, signifying nothing. What you call morality's simply a way for weak souls to place themselves on a pedestal-- to think themselves better than others despite their far greater shortcomings.

If you want results, you don't deign to limit yourself.
consider8: (I told you this would happen)

Tired of this icon yet?

[personal profile] consider8 2012-08-21 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
If that's all that word means to you, then you have barely begun to explore the complexity of the word. You are more than yourself and are accountable for more than just what you do. You say that you are of the people, and I put myself on the pedestal? I say the opposite. Because I have consideration for others as well as myself, I will act only in the best interest of the whole and the good of all. Conversely, your philosophy is that of a devourer. One who uses the pretense of of your actions as justification for the atrocities of others. You have thus elevated your actions above the benefit of others, putting them, and yourself, on the pedestal you are so wont to place me upon.

Really, I have had better arguments from my friend. And she's a teenager.

[a loud, high peal of laughter.] And people tell me I talk too much!

What a lovely speech. But what you don't quite understand is that everything I've ever done, I've done in service of my people-- for the whole and good of all, as you say. And, if that means that the happiness of a few must be sacrificed for a better future, then so be it. One life, a dozen, a hundred, an entire planet-- will anyone know or care if a single drop in the ocean is removed?
consider8: (Uno8scure)

yes, yes they did ::::)

[personal profile] consider8 2012-08-21 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You claim a lack of morality is beneficial and at the same time cling to it to defend your actions. It's quite interesting how you respond when the proverbial tables have been turned and that the one throwing stones also lives in a glass house.

All life deserves sanctity. That you disregard an entire planet as nothing more than a drop in an ocean is proof that you don't respect the very lives that you seek to preserve. And while your intentions may have been noble, the ends only serve as an impetuous to justify your selfish and destructive means.
dissenter: (✿ just like old times.)

[personal profile] dissenter 2012-08-21 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't misunderstand me-- I'm in a place quite beyond that. I'm in no way taking the moral high ground here.

That would be agreeing with your simple, romantic belief that every single life is precious and deserves to be preserved. There's having a respect for life, what its capable of-- and then there's placing so much value on each individual life, it's to the detriment of all. A bigger picture exists, one that many-- [pointedly!] --refuse to see, so wrapped up in their own lives as they are.

Mortals believe that they're at the center of their universe, that their actions are of the greatest consequence. But like a fish that's never ventured outside its stream, they have no comprehension of the greater waters outside their private little world. Planets are born and die every minute, and yet the wheels of the universe continue to turn! My kind have the rare chance to witness this cycle in action, and you call me selfish for the desire to see that opportunity realised?

There're countless more universes outside my own. What luck that I've mastered the trick of travelling between them, eh?

[animatedly -- like oh, hey, wouldn't this be great?!] Maybe I'll even have the pleasure of seeing yours! It sounds like a wonderful place, to be able to produce such a pure, upright young girl.
