TEST DRIVE MEME FEB 2012
Test Drive Meme
[App Form] [Reserves Page]
This meme is here to let prospective characters mingle ICly with the characters already in the game and each other. It helps us introduce various scenarios that you're likely to encounter in Soul Campaign and the different places used in the game. Hopefully, this helps you figure out if the game is really suited to your needs or not -- otherwise, just have fun!
The scenarios for this cycle are:
1. Shibusen has run out of free residential units! You are now stuck in one of their dorms with three other people. There's no privacy at all!
2. You find yourself trapped in the Holocaust mall during a blizzard. It's not as nice as you might think when there's a kishin egg or two prowling about.
3. There's a disease spreading that gives any meister or weapon who doesn't have a partner boils on their faces. You have exactly three hours before it reaches you -- time to make use of partner activities to get one. Please indicate if you're a meister or a weapon on your subject header.
4. It's mission time! You're suddenly thrown into a mission with a stranger (or several strangers). Do you flee or fight? (Current mission board is here.)
5. Your character was brought into Shibusen with a big problem. It seems that the BREW thought it would be funny if guys were girls and girls were guys. You have to race up the Shibusen steps to get the antidote, but you have to drink it with one or more people. Apparently, BREW likes company?
Just choose any one randomly, or make up your own, we don't mind! To make things simpler, please follow this subject line:
[CHARACTER NAME | CANON or FANDOM CHARACTER IS FROM | MEISTER OR WEAPON | SCENARIO# (or indicate if it's a new scenario)]
For example: [SPIRIT ALBARN | SOUL EATER | WEAPON | #1]
For OOC discussions and generally just chatting around, please head over here (for DW) and here (for LJ). For the LJ mirror of this post, please see over here.
Here's the Soul Campaign Navigation Page for all the other information you need.
As an extra note, you may add your TD threads to your application although it is not a requirement to do so and will not count towards activity checks. Please place it under the Notes section if you do.

Ah. Looks like we're in a bit of trouble, doesn't it~?
no subject
Y-yes, it does! How can you be so relaxed about it?
[Pause. Unless...]
...Do you secretly have an awesome plan that will keep us safe from those monsters?
[She sounds so genuinely hopeful that it's kind of sad.]
no subject
Not really.
[Okita Souji and plans didn't really belong in the same sentence together. Not unless it was Hijikata's plans. Because Souji's plans were usually along the lines of 'beat them up until they stop moving.']
But if you're a Meister, we can probably work together to beat them up. [He set the sake bottle on the rail and kept it balanced there with one finger.] Or if you're not a Meister I can keep them busy and give you a chance to run.
no subject
That's when the rest of what he's said sinks in.]
F...fight them...? I... I'm a Meister, but I'm not... I'm not like the others, there's just no way I'm strong enough to win!!! I-if I fight, we'll d- [-ie, the way the man very well could if she just runs away and leaves him to face them alone, because she was too scared to even try.
She knows there's no way she could live with that on her hands. Her gaze never leaves the ground, but Haruka's stance straightens, her gloved hand wipes her eyes and her voice, while quiet, doesn't break again when she speaks.]
...Yes, I'm a Meister. I'm not very experienced, but I've been going to morning training every day. I have an idea of what I'm supposed to do. What's your... Weapon form, sir? Um, and your name. I'm Haruka.
no subject
Though he's a little surprised when she chooses not to run, then his smile becomes fond.]
Haha, there's no need to call me 'sir.' [He abandons the sake bottle entirely and pushes away from the railing.] I'm Okita Souji, and my Weapon form is a katana. [He holds out his hand for her to take.] I look forward to working with you, Haruka-chan~.
no subject
[With a nod and a smile, she takes his hand and tries to prepare for resonation. It had been theoretical, purely a concept up until this point, and she didn't know what to expect. Closing her eyes, Haruka concentrates on 'sensing' Okita's soul - starting in shock when she realizes that she actually can. Woah.]
no subject
[And then he breathes in and out, like he'd do sometimes before meditating (he may be a drunkard most of the time, but he would be a pretty poor samurai if he'd never meditated before!) and then he disappeared and in her hand she'll find a pretty typical katana.
He'd never really resonated. Oh, he knew the theory, but this would be his first time trying it. It was surprisingly a pleasant experience especially after all those horror stories he'd heard about people being burnt.
A short hum and then he was speaking directly into her mind.]
How is it?
no subject
Equally freaky and cool!
[...Ahaha. She should work on that.]
Not that I've forgotten how serious this is!
[To prove it, she places both her hands on Souji's hilt and begins to focus on possible battle strategies. But it's hard not feel overwhelmed by what lies ahead and while she tries to push those feelings to the side, they still hover at the back of her mind.]
The monsters are going to surround us if we face them out in the open. But... if we picked a small area to fight them in, and tried to lure them there just one or two at a time... I think that'd give us a better chance.
...how do I live with only 15 icons?
[But her strategy wasn't bad for someone who claimed she wasn't a fighter.
There was only one tiny problem...]
We will look for a place like that after. But right now, I think we should probably deal with the kishin egg trying to sneak up on you.
[It was still a little ways away, but definitely heading in their direction.]
