WELL
back in the day, Naruto knew Merlin (from the BBC show Merlin) and Merlin had a chicken that he was calling Chicken.

but then Merlin was dropped/BREW sent him home and Naruto ended up keeping the chicken much to Sasuke's chagrin.

it's a thing.

Well, that's certainly an interesting choice of pet! XD; But then Lily has a potbellied pig in canon. (Well, a half goblin/half gargoyle familiar that disguises itself as a potbellied pig anyway.)
