We never got around to it, but suggestions as to what his weapon would be given his soul?

UM fff good question
i'm kindof under the impression it would have been a shield :/

Well, Kingdom Hearts did put it in a way that it's to protect more than just yourself. And his soul isn't as shielded to be a barrier to one person or thing. It can totally be a shield... but no time stopping/resetting. Of course, it might end up being more rounded and bowl like to match his noodle soul.

since kicking it with the witches didn't exactly do naruto any favors

Purple swirls or even some kind of fox on it. Hm hm~ So many design choices.
