The Trapped in a Box Meme



You're stuck a box. It's not a particularly spacious one, nor are you too certain as to how you got there. All you know that the box is small, a little dark and cramped, and at least someone else is stuck in there with you.

Oh. And did I mention that the box is virtually indestructible? No? Well, now I did.

[He hadn't actually made an attempt to break out of the box, not even certain why he was alone in one to begin with. That all changes when a familiar presence closes in on him, and he still makes no move to break out. Sephiroth will come and get him.

He almost tries to stand up when the top of the box is lifted, but he is surprised to find the box suddenly occupied with another presence and they are cast in darkness again. Well, still not the most awkward situation.]

So... are we hiding out in here for a particular reason?

[Namely... is he cramped under Sephiroth for a good reason?]

[He didn't care that they'd be squished into the box, or that he was basically sitting on Cloud in order to remain contained within it. All that mattered is that he was away from others and where he should be. The fact that the box was now broken and easy to escape from didn't even bother him, as he instead growled lightly before closing his eyes to help calm his mind.]

Do I need a reason?

[Well, he knew better than to fight to get up, since it would be impossible anyway. He just let Sephiroth's weight settle on him and he did his best to get comfortable under it. His partner's mind was in chaos after all.]

I suppose not... but I always like to know why we are in such small cramped spaces to begin with.

[Sephiroth shouldn't have been this affected, but the way that the man spoke, and his tone, caused something within to stir unpleasantly. He focused his mind on Cloud's voice, however, and used that to anchor him from the darkness crawling at him within.]

We simply awoke within them. I do not know how or why.

[He reaches up after a moment, weaseling his arms in the space that is rather limited and strokes his fingers over Sephiroth's arms and shoulders. He knows that distressed feeling well enough by now.]

We? Did you wake with someone else then?

[He had meant the 'we' in a general sense, but there were times where his partner was unexpectedly perceptive. This was one of those moments even as he tried to relax with the gesture his partner offered.]

Perhaps, but it is of no importance.

[He eases up a little, wedging himself against a wall even if it means that Sephiroth's weight is more on his chest and abdomen. He doesn't mind too much at the moment, sensing his partner's distress as he does.]

Talk to me, Sephiroth. Who?

[The shifting had him moving about within the box, before he simply released a long breath in return. His mind wasn't entirely where it should have been, namely attempting to make Cloud's lower position more comfortable, and he found it difficult to do just that.]

An old fool. It's of no matter.

[Turning his attention to his partner, he peered at Cloud.]

You woke up without another in here?

[Cloud's pretty sure that anyone stuck in a small cramped box with Sephiroth is in for dire trouble, so he's glad that his partner escaped and came to find him. Now... why were they in this box again?]

You spoke with an old man? There aren't that many old men around. Which one?

[He shrugs as much as he can.]

Apparently not, but you're here now, so I guess it's occupied by two now, right?

[He found himself frowning when Cloud wouldn't give up the topic. Showing his obvious displeasure, his cat-like eyes pinned the blonde with their stare.]

Does it truly matter? It was that overweight parasite.

[Sephiroth was quiet for a moment, before seeming to settle more comfortably against Cloud when he heard Cloud had woken up alone.]

Hn.

[Yeah, he was glad to hear that.]

[Ah, Cloud knew who Sephiroth was referring to with that description. There were few around that were old and overweight. Wasn't that the one that tried to be all paternal to Sephiroth?]

Ah, him. Was he trying to call you 'son' yet?

[He chuckles lightly at Sephiroth's obvious pleasure at him being alone in here.]

How long do you want to stay in here for anyway?

[There was a low growl in return to Cloud's connection to who that fool had been. Eyes narrowed, he instead shifted to be more on his side as he directed a harsh glare towards his partner's face... that in itself was more than enough of an answer.

The chuckle did a little to calm him, before he did what he could to change his mind's focus.]

Are you in a rush to leave?

Oh come on... you have to admit he was trying to be very reasonable and fatherly towards you. It's been awhile! The least you could do was enjoy the attention.

[He knows Sephiroth wouldn't and knows it's a sore topic to begin with, but he is hoping to warm his partner up to the idea regardless. He knows it will fail, but hey, he can try.]

Not particularly. Just wondering how long you plan on sitting on me.

[Cloud's attempt to lighten the situation was returned with a displeased grunt. He had no intention of anything 'fatherly' being directed towards him, and Sephiroth didn't hide it even with their connections through the cells of his body.] I see nothing to enjoy.

[Pausing, he regarded Cloud quietly for a moment before reaching up to push open the door he'd previously broken.]

I'm hardly keeping you if you wish for your comfort.
